Kit Leese
Kit Leese has been printmaking since 1983, first discovering the medium through an evening class at Ipswich Art School. Since then, he has developed a distinctive approach to etching, using line and aquatint to create expressive depictions of the natural landscape. His work captures the shifting moods of the countryside with remarkable clarity, using rich tones and subtle colour variations on a single plate.
A highly regarded printmaker, Kit has been a member of 12PM (Twelve Printmakers) since its inception in 1984 and continues to explore new techniques. He has recently been experimenting with steel etching, using open bite to achieve a broad range of aquatint-like effects.
At Mill Tye Gallery, Kit’s etchings remain a firm favourite among visitors and collectors. His ability to convey atmosphere and light through printmaking makes his work a compelling addition to our collection.
