Paul Cleden
As an Illustrator and printmaker, Paul Cleden uses
a variety of printmaking techniques throughout his work – from lino multi block and reduction prints to collograph, monoprint and lino etch.
Inspired by the works of Michael Rothenstein, Edward Bawden, Cyril Power and Lill Tschudi, Paul creates original lino prints and collographs, inspire by his surroundings, people and sporting activities. Meanwhile, Paul’s illustrations concentrate on children’s book illustrations.
Paul: “For me, Mill Tye Gallery provides an opportunity for me to create some new and exclusive prints that are appropriate for Suffolk. It’s an amazing location that provides inspiration in itself. I’m looking forward to working with Peter and his team to showcase some new prints at the planned exhibitions.”
‘COURSE SUR ROUTE’
(4 Block Linocut Print. Edition number: 1/50)
Paul Cleden: "I am always drawn to movement and a peloton is a subject I often return to, with both crowds and movement it captures two of my favourite elements. The energy and dynamic speed has such a dramatic tension. The image is part of the European edition created for an exhibition at the Tour de France in 2018. The UK edition having long since sold out I created a new colour way for the Tour exhibition. The image has proved very successful, even the posters went missing. I also wanted to make a limited number of copies available here in the UK"
