Workshop 1: The Colours of Place Join artist Terry Flower for a hands-on workshop that encourages participants to draw inspiration from the forms and colours of the landscape surrounding Mill Tye. Date: Thursday 12th June 2025 Time: 9:30am to 12:30pm Duration: Approximately 3 hours Price: £48 per person Workshop Overview: This workshop explores how the colours and forms of the local landscape can inspire personal creativity and visual storytelling. We will begin by observing the unique colour palette of the Mill Tye area, drawing inspiration from the natural tones, textures, and patterns found along the river Stour and in the surrounding countryside. Participants will experiment with colour mixing to create a series of painted papers, each reflecting the local hues. Using these painted sheets, we’ll dive into the art of collage - cutting and arranging shapes to form layered compositions that echo the organic forms of the plants and foliage around us. This workshop is perfect for artists of all levels who are eager to explore a unique approach to colour and form, translating the beauty of nature into abstract or representational art. As some of the class could take place outside, please bring warm waterproof clothes and sensible footwear. ABOUT YOUR TUTOR: Since graduating from Goldsmiths College, London, in 1986, Terry Flower has dedicated his career to both teaching and creating art. With a deep passion for exploring the theme of landscape, Terry’s work spans a variety of media, including sculpture, painting, photography, and bookworks. His experience and creative approach bring a unique perspective to his workshops, making them both inspiring and educational for participants of all skill levels.
