Service Description

Winter Landscapes – Textile Workshop with Dorothy Ronaldson Create hand-stitched winter scenes, perfect for Christmas cards and handmade gifts. Date: Tuesday 11th November Time: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM Embrace the magic of winter with a festive day of textile creativity. In this seasonal workshop, artist Dorothy Ronaldson will guide you in creating your own beautiful stitched winter landscapes, inspired by frosted trees, textured hedgerows, and wintry skies. Working with delicate silks, hand embroidery, and fabric collage techniques, you’ll produce a framed winter scene or a series of smaller, stitched pieces that can be turned into bespoke Christmas cards or unique handmade gifts—perfect for sharing a little handmade magic this season. All stages and stitches will be demonstrated. The workshop is suitable for those fairly new to stitch and those with more experience, but beginners are always welcome. What’s included: - Plain unpainted white and cream silk (perfect for winter tones) - Painted and textured fabrics Interfacing for structure - Blank cards for mounting your mini works - Embroidery threads (stranded, perle, sateen) - Sheer ribbons, lace, and metallic fibres - Fabric paints (optional for subtle effects) - Brushes, droppers, and all supporting materials What to bring: - Fabric and thread cutting scissors - A medium-sized paintbrush (if you’d like to use paints) - Medium Crewel or Milliners needles (Items can be found at Lingards in Sudbury or online) - Packed lunch Enjoy a relaxed, festive atmosphere with gentle guidance and inspiration from Dorothy, and leave with your own stitched winter scenes ready to gift, frame, or send.
